Join us online for a festive Christmas Party at the rectory of St. Mary's-in-Tuxedo. It's an homage to classic Christmas specials of the past with fun musical numbers, witty repartee, special guests, and lots of holiday magic.
Alternating bi-annually with the Progressive Dinner, this is our major fundraising event. It begins with cocktails and a silent auction, followed by dinner and a fun and often highly-contested live auction. It will be held at the Tuxedo Club.
You are cordially invited to our Summer Cocktail Party at The Tuxedo Club on Friday, June 27th, from 6pm to 8pm.
For those of you participating in the Talent Show, please use these weeks to rehearse your entry. I'll collect names of all acts by Sunday, April 27th at Coffee Hour. Please plan to run through your act in Bentley Hall on Saturday afternoon, May 3rd, anytime between 2pm and 6pm so I can get a sense of the program. If you can't make it that day, please let me see your entry after the service on Sunday, April 27. Feel free to share your favorite things with others in a spirit of fun!
Many thanks,
Maureen
Please join us at 10am on Easter Sunday, April 20th. The service will feature a brass quintet and choir, with traditional Easter readings, hymns, and communion. Children are invited to flower the cross (arrive by 9:55am) and an Easter Egg hunt in the churchyard will follow the service, along with a festive coffee hour. Infant/childcare available starting at 9:50 am. Easter bonnets are encouraged!
Holy Week begins on Palm Sunday (10am) with the triumphal entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, followed by the agony of the Passion that he was about to endure.
On Maundy Thursday (7pm), we commemorate the Last Supper, a Passover meal which Jesus shared with his disciples and at which he became our passover, the Lamb of God. We also celebrate the institution of the holy priesthood as Jesus gave his disciples the command to break the bread and bless the cup until he comes again. After communion, the altar will be stripped and washed to represent the tomb that will receive Christ's body on Good Friday.
Good Friday (12 noon) is the day we observe the crucifixion and death of Jesus Christ. The current Book of Common Prayer is the first to include liturgies for Holy Week. Some are left open to interpretation, but Good Friday is more prescribed. On Good Friday, we enact the ancient liturgy for that day, hearing the Passion according to St. John as well as the Solemn Collects, sung to tones used only on Good Friday. Finally, we solemnly venerate the cross.

The Progressive Dinner draws people from the surrounding community to enjoy a night filled with fellowship and appreciate the historic architecture of Tuxedo Park up close. We will begin with everyone enjoying cocktails and hors d’oeuvres together at the home of Julie and Bob Daum. We then divide up into smaller groups to enjoy entrées at about twelve other houses, and then finish the evening with dessert at the home of Paula and Ernie Sink. Tickets are $200 per person and benefit the historic St. Mary’s-in-Tuxedo.
